Editorial

Dear Readers

November flush has just entered the atmosphere, and I’m sure we all are looking for our flannel cure. As we enter the season that’s not quite winter but not summer or monsoon, The Echo brings forth its first edition of the 2023-24 school year. As the first physical copy since the same month four years ago, the November 2023 edition of The Echo aims to accomplish the same thing as four years ago: to bring urgent matters from across the world to the student body’s attention through the words of our fellow students.

The India-Canada tensions had the officials from both nations on their toes for weeks on end, and Meenakshi delves into the causes and effects of this in her article. As the American presidential elections are in 2024, many new candidates with many ideas are announcing their candidacies; the viewpoints of one such candidate, Vivek Ramaswamy, are explored in Mahi’s article. Arnav’s article on the Hangzhou games discusses the ups and downs faced by athletes competing in the games and India’s ever-improving performance. In the realm of national news, Aanya Menon elaborates on the Women’s Reservation Bill passed in September and how it’s a step forward in empowering the women of our country. Aanya Jaidka’s article addresses the success of Chandrayaan-3 and how its launch solidified India’s position in space exploration. Two of our articles explore the most exciting advances in the scientific field: Ayaan’s article talks about CRISPR, the most revolutionary tool in gene editing, and Vansh’s article elaborates on the fascinating research on using the genes of ancestral species to combat modern-day diseases. Finally, to conclude with some timeless matters, Timinesh’s article explores the psychology of failure and certain misconceptions about it. In his article, Adhvai, the Head of Journalism at The Echo, talks about music in the context of its past and present.

Everyone here at The Echo worked tirelessly to put out this edition, and we hope you, the reader, learn something new as you flip through the pages of this edition. Happy reading, and happy November!
